Australian Classification Board Rates Ghost Of Tsushima, Will Have Partial Nudity And Gore

Although some outlets are reporting that Sony and Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima is still on for June while others are taking the OPM UK magazine’s recent apology as an indicator that the game has faced a delay, what is for certain as of this writing is that the game has been rated in Australia and will feature blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity.

Website twistedvoxel.com has done some wandering around the net and found that as of April 17th, 2020, the Australian Classification Board posted on classification.gov.au the following information:

None Very Mild Impact Mild Impact Moderate Impact Strong Impact High
Themes — — — — MA 15+ —
Violence — — — — MA 15+ —
Language — — O — — —
Drug Use O — — — — —
Nudity — O — — — —
Sex O — — — — —

I bet you are thinking, “This isn’t news, the game already has an ESRB rating!” Actually, no. As pointed out by the publication site, the ESRB rating boasts that Ghost of Tsushima is rated “M” for mature, but the official rating description in the U.S. hasn’t gone up yet.

With that said, just yesterday, the Australian Classification Board posted up that the game will release as an MA 15+ title in said country.

As for the game itself, the story sees the island of Tsushima on the brink of destruction. From here, players will assume the role of Jin Sakai, who must sacrifice everything to ward off the Mongol invaders and protect what’s left of his home and people.

As Sakai embarks on an adventure to free Tsushima, he is forced to set aside his knowledge of samurai traditions and become a “new” kind of warrior — a ghost warrior.

As for wokeness and current year talking points, expect there to be SJW narratives throughout the game, given that Ghost of Tsushima is a product of Sony. And speaking of Sony, the game is slated to hit the PS4 sometime this summer.
