Bethesda Softworks and id Software have released the new PC update — dubbed update 1.1 — that removes Irdeto’s Denuvo tech from Doom: Eternal. Additionally, update 1.1. also fixes skin-related crashes and memory issues.
Last week, Marty Stratton — executive producer at id Software — claimed to the public that Bethesda did not force id Software to add Irdeto’s Denuvo tech to Doom: Eternal and that rumors surrounding said topic are “simply untrue.”
Stratton also noted that the decision to remove Irdeto anti-cheat software is not based on the anti-cheat solution impacting performance or stability since he believes that the stability issues are not related to Update 1’s Denuvo inclusion.
Nevertheless, the new update that removes Irdeto’s denuvo also fixes memory issues according to the new tweet in question:
Update 1.1 (PC Only) for DOOM Eternal is now live, and removes Denuvo Anti-Cheat integration, fixes memory-related crashes and crashes associated with customizable skins. https://t.co/RGjckIpFek

You can check out the full patch notes right here, which are not included in the above tweet. In addition, you can either view said notes on slayersclub.bethesda.net or here:
Removed Denuvo Anti-Cheat integration
- Use Windows add/remove programs to uninstall Denuvo Anti-Cheat
Fixes for PC Only
- Fixed several crashes associated with customizable skins
- Fixed memory-related crashes affecting some users
- Reverted a VRAM allocation change that caused some users to experience degraded performance with Update 1
Moreover, when Irdeto’s Denuvo anti-cheat system was added to the game, the company insisted that the tech “avoids collecting any personally identifiable information.” Additionally, Irdeto went on to say that “unlike other anti-cheat solutions” that its anti-cheat solution does not take screenshots, scan files, or stream shellcode from the Internet.
Irdeto also went on to say that its anti-cheat solution only collects information on how the OS interacts with the game so that it can be sent to Amazon-hosted servers for cheat detection.
As of now, the anti-cheat tech is gone from first-person shooter’s Battle Mode. With that said, Doom: Eternal is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
