NieR: Automata Patch Bloats Install Size To 366 Gigabytes Over Bug

NieR: Automata received its first software patch in six years, inadvertently inflating the action RPG's storage footprint from 55 GB to an astounding 366 GB. The sudden sevenfold file increase caught players off guard after downloading what was originally meant to be a minor language localization update.

The absurd bloat stems from a packaging bug that causes each individual DLC cosmetic skin to replicate the entire base game's file directory. Instead of sharing core asset packages efficiently, the client treats every separate add-on skin as an independent 50-plus gigabyte payload.

Developers have acknowledged the glitch and confirmed they are investigating the packaging defect, though a hotfix is not ready yet. If you plan to reinstall or update the title right now, prepare to sacrifice a massive chunk of SSD storage until a cleanup patch deploys.
