There are reports that the Regressive Left are actively attacking translator Dan Kanemitsu for his translation of Netflix’s iteration of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Originally they claimed that Netflix censored the gayness out of the show, but later others corrected that misconception, stating that Kanemitsu’s translation was more faithful to the original intent, which was to make the scene and interaction more ambiguous and less obvious. Well, now those same agitators are targeting Kanemitsu for his creation of the character Captain Hannelore Kümmel from the Strike Witches doujin The Lionhart Witch ~ Leading The Charge and for claiming that he’s a Nazi sympathizer.
Bounding Into Comics did a report on the social media unrest cooked up by the underlings of the Intersectional Inquisition, who targeted Kanemitsu once more, this time led by a user going by the handle of Avatarskorra. The tweets are now deleted but there are still archives available.

They attempted to paint him as a pedophile and Nazi sympathizer who attempted to erase the gayness out of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
It’s the typical kind of Left-wing attack that targets people with viral tweets in hopes of getting them fired or deplatformed, which oftentimes works.
However, as pointed out by Bounding Into Comics, the character that Kanemitsu created isn’t a lewd loli and he never puts her in any explicit sexual situations. She’s also not a Nazi, but simply dons the Iron Cross, as you can see in the image below.

This also had cosplayers like Jessie Pridemore slip into the discussion, claiming that Netflix should fire Kanemitsu. And yes, that’s the same Pridemore who accused Todd Haberkorn of sexual misconduct, which turned out to be untrue.
So the guy that translated the new Eva dub is apparently the creator of nazi lolicon doujinshis.
That’s a *checks notes* yes, that’s a yikes from me.

Also how dare this asshole tarnish Strike Witches, which despite it’s fab service, is an incredibly thought out and researched series based on WWII.

Leftists are attempting to paint a situation where anyone wearing the Iron Cross is affiliated with Nazism, which isn’t true.
However, the narrative was already set by the activists, and outlets like The Daily Dot zeroed in on Kanemitsu as a villain, writing hit-pieces like “Why did Netflix erase the queerness of ‘Evangelion’?”.
Whether or not the narrative will affect Dan Kanemitsu’s career remains unseen at this point, but Leftists almost always get their way, and I would be genuinely shocked if Kanemitsu managed to come out of this witch hunt unscathed.
