The Last Of Us HBO Series Will Not Shy Away From Gay Representation, Says Craig Mazin

Craig Mazin, the guy behind the Chernobyl limited series, is working with Neil Druckmann and many others to make an HBO series based on The Last of Us game. Well, it looks like a new report has found that Mazin will make sure that gay representation isn’t erased when the series goes live.

Although we don’t know at this point how many characters will boast their sexuality in the series, a Twitter user wants the show to keep “the gay gay” in for representation reasons. Mazin responded and said, “you have my word.”

The above information comes from publication site GameRant, which featured the following tweet:

You have my word.

At this point, the show will hit the ground running when it comes to current year politics, given Sony’s new approach, Druckmann’s vision, and Mazin’s above response.

Nevertheless, this should come in as no surprise given the game’s past and its latest approach — as seen in the second installment’s E3 2018 trailer.

GameRant notes that this is a confirmation by Mazin that Ellie will “retain her sexuality” in The Last of Us HBO series, but that doesn’t rule out Bill and Frank or other characters that they want to inject current year politics into when the show airs.

Moreover, expect to see more forced gay characters throughout this year and beyond much like in the upcoming Borderlands 3: Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, Superman: Red Son, the Walker: Texas Ranger re-boot, and The Eternals — which makes sure to check off the diversity quota checkbox.

Anyway, no word on a release date has surfaced, which means the HBO series could drop later this year or sometime in 2021.

However, contrary to the above, we do know that Sony and Naughty Dog will release The Last of Us: Part 2 for PS4 on May 29th, 2020.
