Hubris is oft the downfall of all would-be tyrants. For it is a foolish pride that blinds one to the world around them and the consequences of their actions. No longer able to see the growing threats and changing climate that will be their downfall they continue as if conquering heroes. In this vein, we have an article from The Atlantic championing the rise of the surveillance state and Chinese Style Censorship in the United States by two academics from Harvard and the University of Arizona.
Before we delve into the meat and potatoes of the article let’s first address who these two are tied to. In January of this year, the Department of Justice charged three individuals on charges of transferring biological secrets to the Chinese Regime. Secret the school was turning over as a result of the millions in unreported financing they have received from the Chinese Government, as detailed by NPR.
Looking toward the University of Arizona you have an institution that as of last year paid the Chinese regime $2 million to house the Confucius Institute, as reported by the American Military News. An institution that spends most of its time pushing the Chinese government’s propaganda rather than the philosophical teachings of Confucius.
Understanding what we are dealing with we can now appreciate the level of hubris in the belief they have already won. A belief so profound they now openly boast about the growing surveillance state, cooperation of Silicon Valley, and censorship. All of which they previously denied was occurring. Labeling anyone who disagreed as paranoid, alt-right, or conspiracy theorists. Well rest assured you weren’t crazy and as always the case with leftists it was all intentional from the start.
Make no mistake, it is easier when you have traitors who will sell out the values they owe their existence to protecting. Mistakes a few months from now both institutions will be greatly regretting having taken part in.
“to make sure that, when we’ve made it past this crisis, our country isn’t transformed into a place we don’t want to live.” -American Civil Liberties Union
“Any extraordinary measures used to manage a specific crisis must not become permanent fixtures in the landscape of government intrusions into daily life.”Electronic Frontier Foundation
At the very least the writers of this article do not parse words about their bias. Rather than the usual attempts to hide it behind some rhetoric, they are entirely forthcoming that free speech is a problem that needs to be solved and how the Chinese solution is the correct solution.
“In the great debate of the past two decades about freedom versus control of the network, China was largely right and the United States was largely wrong. Significant monitoring and speech control are inevitable components of a mature and flourishing internet, and governments must play a large role in these practices to ensure that the internet is compatible with a society’s norms and values.”
What problem? Well, as usual, its Trump Derangement Syndrome. Despite their best attempts to rig the 2016 election with fake polling data and stuffed ballots, Clinton lost as the American people overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump. After they were done with their emotional breakdowns the left swore this would never happen again, so they have moved to censor all methods used to push Trump into the White House during the last election so there would be no repeat in 2020.
“The second wake-up call was Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. As Barack Obama noted, the most consequential misinformation campaign in modern history was “not particularly sophisticated—this was not some elaborate, complicated espionage scheme.” Russia used a simple phishing attack and a blunt and relatively limited social-media strategy to disrupt the legitimacy of the 2016 election and wreak still-ongoing havoc on the American political system. “
How did they do this? By using a simple rule of power. Always mascaraed your intentions behind chivalrous motivations. It’s not that they want to censor conservatives and Trump Supporters. Owe no! That would be amoral as well as illegal. Their intention is to stop Russia from interfering in our elections. Not Ukraine who interfered for Clinton’s campaign. That is okay, just Trump and don’t question the logical inconsistency at play here.
“As the networks became filled with bullying, harassment, child sexual exploitation, revenge porn, disinformation campaigns, digitally manipulated videos, and other forms of harmful content, private platforms faced growing pressure from governments and users to fix the problems.”
Naturally, the entire article cannot be quoted, but it does invariably layout in express detail the scope of their actions. Actions that until the lockdowns they were not emboldened enough to proclaim openly and denied as conservative outlets pointed and called them out.
“After the 2016 election debacle, for example, the tech platforms took aggressive but still imperfect steps to fend off foreign adversaries. YouTube has an aggressive policy of removing what it deems to be deceptive practices and foreign-influence operations related to elections. It also makes judgments about and gives priority to what it calls “authoritative voices.” Facebook has deployed a multipronged strategy that includes removing fake accounts and eliminating or demoting “inauthentic behavior.” Twitter has a similar censorship policy aimed at “platform manipulation originating from bad-faith actors located in countries outside of the US.” These platforms have engaged in “strategic collaboration” with the federal government, including by sharing information, to fight foreign electoral interference.
The platforms are also cooperating with one another and with international organizations, and sometimes law enforcement, on other censorship practices.”
As said at the beginning of this article, The two who wrote it are suffering from severe hubris and it will be their downfall. Its origins are easy to figure out. The left suffers from severe confirmation bias as a result of listening to their propaganda while feeling assured their grasp on power in academia, corporate America, along with politics cannot be shaken. In essence, they’ve convinced themselves now that they have the backing of China that there is no way 2016 can repeat itself.
Want proof? They think they can win with a candidate clearly suffering from dementia. Who even in rigged polls either loses or barely wins against Trump before Trump has even begun campaigning against him.
No, they overplayed their hand with the lockdowns. At first, academia predicted an apocalyptic occurrence of hundreds of thousands dead. Our medical system overwhelmed, but you could save all those people if you just agree to give up all your rights and lock down the economy. Never mind those same institutions came back later and said there would be no apocalyptic scenario nor should it concern you hospitals get more money by labeling any death as caused by Covid-19, as reported by Global Research. A fact that even Facebook fact-checkers have verified is true.
The reality is we didn’t need 40,000 ventilators, we didn’t need those new hospitals that are now being closed down, and with 40 different strains of the virus, you are never getting a vaccine. As 4.4 million American’s apply for unemployment, as oil trades at a negative value, and the economy lies in ruins the people have finally stopped panicking and realized they were played.
Who are they blaming for impoverishing them? The Democrats and China. They’re taking a look at all that has been said about both parties along with the surveillance state these two so happily cheered on. People are realizing change needs to happen because all those slippery slope predictions are coming true. Apparently, when people don’t have to spend all their time working, they have a lot of free time to look into various topics.
Blow-back is in full force across the country as people try to survive the economic impoverishment the government just imposed upon them. That the Democrats and leftists think for a single second the entire nation isn’t going to go red come November is indicative they are purely delusional at this juncture.
They played their hand and the world wised up. Not just against government overreach, but also about the dangers of letting Chinese Economic Imperialism go unchecked. The only question now is can nations be saved before the economic bubbles burst hurling the world economy into a new Great Depression.
