Scott Adkins has all the tools to become a major international action star, the likes of which we regard Steven Seagal, Jean Claude Van Damme, or Jet Li and Jackie Chan. However, outside of the Undisputed series he’s yet to land that breakout role that has become the smash hit success that cements his legacy as a top-tier player in the world of action films. However, Adrian Bol’s Legacy of Lies could be the film that helps set him on his way toward achieving that goal.
The film is about a former MI6 agent being pulled into a conspiracy involving assassinations that some clandestine groups are committing with the hopes of putting the blame on the American government. One of the groups wants a reporter captured dead or alive who could possibly blow the lid on the conspiracy, and so they kidnap Adkins’ daughter and task him with retrieving any of the incriminating evidence.

The trailer isn’t the most well-paced piece of content, but it does look like a grade above the typical Adkins fanfare, which is usually of the extremely low budget sort.
The plot here looks like it could take a few twists and turns, and it appears to have some solid looking action choreography and the film at least looks like it takes itself serious enough.
Whether or not it’s a cohesive viewing experience as a whole is a completely different story, but for now it looks like this might be well worth a watch if you happen to be a fan of Scott Adkins.
Since this is being funded by the Ukrainian State Film Agency, it makes sense that it would have some digs at Russia in it, but let’s hope that doesn’t undermine the actual cogency of the story they’re trying to tell.
There’s no release date for the film but I imagine it’s coming soon to video on demand and perhaps select theaters if it’s scheduled to release sometime after June.
