A few years ago, Disney stood at the height of its power. Expanding to control 70% of Hollywood’s entertainment industry, their movies went as unrivaled as their influence over the media. Year of agenda pushings weakened the company until the lockdowns from the pandemic brought their economic prospects to their knees.
For a company that smugly looked down upon the unwashed masses, it would turn out they were entirely reliant on them to survive. After Disney publishing A Bugs Life, they really should have seen this lesson coming. What with it being the entire message of the movie.
On Monday prior to the disastrous investor call, known insider WDW Pro dumped several insights as to what was transpiring behind the scenes at Disney. Overlord DVD posted a video about the behind-the-scenes tidbits to give you a rundown of what’s going on.
Some revelations are rather pedantic. Disney’s terrified of putting people in masks out in the hot Florida heat, while at the same time, they are monitoring various state lockdowns and case numbers to see if and when they can fully reopen their parks.
Two details in particular did prove to be more than your typical run of the mill corporate troubles. First: behind the scenes, corporate America has grown concerned regarding appearing to be friendly or subservient to the Chinese Regime. Disney is especially nervous because they were and now are terrified, releasing Mulan will create a political backlash.
Truthfully a lot of people on top are blind idiots, but if Disney hopes no one had taken notice of their years of subservience to the Chinese government, with censorship and their media coverage of China, then they are the blind idiots. Public backlash already began after what the company turned Star Wars into; it now festers with the Marvel Cinematic Universe who follows the same road to ruin.
Secondly, details emerging of LucasFilm’s civil war paint a bad picture for the future of Star Wars. LucasFilms sits divided into two camps. One is loyal to Kathleen Kennedy and continues to work tirelessly to interject as much political narrative as possible into the Galaxy Far, Far Away. On the other side is the Favreau faction, who dedicate themselves to just making Star Wars without a need to push agendas.
At present, owing to unknown factors, Kennedy’s camp appears to be winning, leaving many to speculate what Kennedy has on Iger. As previously covered, that likely involves his relationship with Weinstein and Epstein.
Regardless of what the truth on that matter is, nothing appears as if it will be going right for Disney.
