CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk universe follows a strict chronological order across both its animated adaptation and main game storyline.
Studio Trigger's anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes place entirely in the year 2076, establishing the gritty atmosphere of Night City roughly one year prior to V's merc career.
The story then transitions directly into Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion, where players can discover direct references and equipment left behind by David Martinez.
If you want to experience the complete narrative in true chronological sequence, watching Edgerunners before starting the main campaign provides the ideal setup.
