A24 is reportedly committing a massive $200 million budget to bring FromSoftware's acclaimed dark fantasy epic Elden Ring to the silver screen. That unprecedented investment officially cements the project as the most expensive feature film production in the independent studio's history.
The budget leap represents a monumental gamble when compared to the distributor's previous record holder Marty Supreme, which cost roughly $70 million. Directing triple-A Hollywood money into Hidetaka Miyazaki's brutal and cryptic mythology shows serious confidence in gaming adaptations.
Tarnished players will still have to exercise plenty of patience before seeing the Lands Between in cinemas, as the adaptation is tentatively slated for a 2028 premiere.
