FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have taken multiplayer servers for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 offline following reports of a severe security exploit. The sudden outage immediately disables co-op summoning, PvP invasions, and bloodstains across active platforms.
The emergency maintenance comes as an unwelcome shock, particularly because console players are also locked out alongside PC users this time around. Security issues in FromSoftware's legacy netcode previously exposed players to critical remote code execution risks.
If history repeats itself, you might be waiting a frustratingly long time before online matchmaking returns. When similar vulnerabilities struck the trilogy back in 2022, PC players spent over six months waiting for developers to patch the exploit and restore server access.
