CD Projekt Red and anime showrunner Bartosz Sztybor confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will never have an official canon ending dictating future animated projects. The creative leads determined that selecting one definitive finale would invalidate the divergent paths players pursued during their campaigns.
Sztybor held extensive planning meetings with the game developers while outlining new stories for the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners universe to address the timeline. Rather than declaring a single ending supreme, any in-universe references to V's exploits will remain subtle hints tailored to fit every possible player outcome.
This ambiguous narrative standard will also apply to a potential third season if production expands further across Night City. If you spent dozens of hours carving out your specific conclusion, the studio refuses to retcon your decisions for the sake of anime lore.
