Call of Duty fans are scratching their heads after satirical gaming posts began circulating bogus claims that an extraction mode for a nonexistent Modern Warfare 4 launched for free. The mock announcements tell players they have until November 11 to squad up in Warzone and try the extraction format.
In reality, Modern Warfare 4 does not exist, and the original DMZ mode introduced alongside Modern Warfare II has been free-to-play through Warzone since late 2022. Activision largely ceased ongoing content updates for DMZ last year, leaving the mode active but functionally abandoned in favor of newer releases.
The tongue-in-cheek posts playfully mock slow news cycles and internet gullibility across social media channels. If you were actually hoping for an official revival or expanded sequel for DMZ, you will have to make peace with the existing Warzone rotation.
