VRChat's recent Steam reviews have pulled back from 93% negative when the last report ran to 78% negative over the last 3 days, with 506 negative reviews stacked against 143 positive ones.
That still leaves VRChat Inc. sitting far above the 29% negative the game was pulling before players started pushing for labels and filters on AI-generated worlds and avatars.
The backlash hit hardest on October 29, when the game took 949 negative reviews against 60 positive, followed by 715 negative on October 30, after players say a request for AI tagging was turned down.
The only official Steam post in that window is the October 28 announcement for Release 2026.4.1, which touts the Safety Center, Improved Face Tracking and a new login flow – not the label system players keep bringing up.
The pile-on hasn't stopped so much as slowed down, with 425 negative reviews on November 2 and 417 on November 3, before dropping to 119 on November 5 and 75 on November 6.
According to reviews, the core grievance hasn't moved an inch, with players saying they answered a community survey asking for AI tags and filters and then watched the idea get shelved anyway.
One reviewer with 1,965.9 hours in the game put it plainly: "We all asked to add a label system so we can identify such content and not engage with it, but you still decline us."
Others are folding older grudges into the same reviews, from anti-cheat breaking community accessibility mods to the game still carrying an Early Access tag after its February 1, 2017 release.
Fewer angry reviews per day is not the same thing as fewer angry players.
If you were waiting for VRChat Inc. to answer on Steam with a label system or an AI filter, there's no official post on it yet – and the players doing the reviewing are clear that it's the one fix they actually want.
