Dead by Daylight's recent Steam reviews have climbed back from 82% negative to 54% negative over the last 3 days, with 441 negative and 379 positive reviews logged in that window.
That is still a long way from the 26% negative the game sat at before this story began, but the daily numbers show the pile-on losing steam – 1,285 negative reviews landed on November 4, followed by 222 on November 5, 154 on November 6 and just 65 on November 7.
On November 7, positive reviews outnumbered negative ones 97 to 65, the first day the positives have come out ahead since November 1.
For anyone just catching up, players accused Behaviour Interactive of caving on a content creator collab, and the recent review score for the 2016 horror title slid from 52% negative to 82% negative in a matter of days.
The interesting part is where the anger is pointed, because according to the most helpful negative reviews this week, plenty of players are not upset about the collab itself so much as the developer backing away from it.
One reviewer with 0.5 hours on record wrote "You guys are just enabling cyber bullying and harassment.", going on to claim that the studio's own dev team was doxxed and harassed over the promotion – allegations made by players in reviews, not confirmed in any official post.
One reviewer with 681 hours logged describes a developer that promised to take the heat and then folded, and other reviewers tell players to stay away from the game entirely.
Behaviour Interactive has not addressed any of this on its Steam page, where the most recent official post is an October 30 Alienware laptop sweepstakes, preceded by an October 29 backend bugfix patch tweaking The Executioner and The Good Guy and the October 28 Terrifier PTB patch notes.
A laptop giveaway is not a statement.
If you were holding off on the game until the dust settled, the most helpful negative reviews are still aimed at how the studio handled the collab, and nothing on its Steam page has touched that yet.
